For me J.D. Salinger would be a great pick since I'm so familiar with and love his books. For you I would go with the author that you like the most and have read most of his or her work. If you wanted a challenge though you could go with the author that you're least familiar with; that way you could get to know the author and their books and do your honors project at the same time.
