How can I stop eating comfortably?

Yes, I am basically asking how can I stop eating and make myself as at ease with the process as possible. I weigh entirely too much and I am sick of being fat. Over the winter, fat crept up on me even though I don't overeat or eat much junk and I am active. I have tried dieting to no avail. I look disgusting. I am 142 lbs. now (in the morning) and I am 5'10 or 70 inches tall. I do tai chi and go walking 4-5 times a week, and the pounds won't budge. Right now, I am eating fruit for breakfast and eating a little meat for lunch and trying to phase out my dinner meal. My goal is to get back to 134 lbs, and if anyone has any tips please offer them. If you just want to ridicule me, then please don't. I really am asking for advice.
