What in the world was I riding with?

I was riding western on the trails. The horse had a rope halter under some kind of bridle, and it had a chain under the chin. I didn't get a chance to see the bit though. It had a bosal-type connection thing with rope reins that weren't split. It had a forehead piece thing and everything. I was just curious to see what I was riding with. xD
