What is a good men's winter storm coat with hood?

I have a dress wool overcoat. That really doesn't cut it in a snow storm. Also I need a coat for snow shoveling and I don't want to sweat out my dress overcoat. I have considered a North Face down filled coat with a hood. Also there is one put out by Hawke. I am also considering a layered storm overcoat from LL Bean or Eddie Bauer, or Land's End. Any suggestions are appreciated. Something that is machine washable. Either down or fiber filled.
